EDGEWOOD CITY PARK

The Edgewood City Park was established in 1998 through a grant with the TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT.  Formally, the site was the location of the Edgewood Public School Complex.  Park activities include baseball tournaments and a site for varied public recreation including a playground area for children.

EDGEWOOD CIVIC CENTER

 
 

The Civic Center is a restored c. 1910 building built by J. W. Peavey.  Funding for the extensive restoration in 2007, was provided through East Texas Council of Governments and the Edgewood Economic Developement Board.  The building is owned and operated by the City of Edgewood which offers the site for private celebrations and Senior Citizens activities.  It also holds monthly meetings for AARP Chapter 1313,  the volunteers of Horsefeathers Therapy Riding, Senior Dance Night, JABOW'S embroidery.  For information for rental, please contact Pam Allen at 903)896-4064 

EDGEWOOD HERITAGE PARK MUSEUM

Heritage Park is an architectural museum of 21 authentically restored and furnished c. 1900 buildings representing the development of rural East Texas and is located on 16 lots in downtown Edgewood.  The museum is a non-profit owned and operated by Edgewood Historical Society whose mission is to preserve the cultural and architectural heritage of the area.  With an outstanding staff of volunteers, Heritage Park offers museum services to thousands seeking such a site to celebrate their rural heritage.  You can take a small virtual tour of the buildings by visiting the Edgewood Heritage Festival Website by clicking here.

More than a dozen historical structures, along with such displays as animal-powered farm equipment and a syrup mill, preserve the history of the area. Included are cabins from the 1800’s, blacksmith shop, country store, barber shop, schoolhouse, and a museum of tools, clothing, and other pioneer items. Docents in period dress often demonstrate pioneer skills.

 EDGEWOOD MEALS ON WHEELS

The Edgewood Meals On Wheels program serves numerous seniors in the community.  It is housed in the Edgewood Civic Center as an ongoing service offered by the City to the Senior Citizens in the community.

EDGEWOOD CITY LAKE

The Edgewood City Lake serves as a reservoir for the City's water supply which is supplied by Lake Tawakoni.

LAKE TAWAKONI STATE PARK
